Spanning 320 individually designed pages, Horrors Untold is a first-of-its-kind immersive experience that dares you to explore the history and lore of Universal Orlando Resort's Halloween Horror Nights while solving a dark and chilling mystery -- all packaged in a book form that you've never quite seen before.
Told in a found-footage style, Horrors Untold deftly combines journal entries, printed-out articles, an excerpt from a published academic tome, transcripts from public lectures or private interrogations, and a collection of social-media posts to trace a story of mental degradation and deadly torture. Hunter Spivey, the popular blogger behind HauntHunter, has turned his professional sights on Halloween Horror Nights Orlando, cluing his readers into its history, mythology, and spreading international influence; as he does, however, he finds himself the target of an increasingly bizarre series of events that are slowly descending upon Orlando. It's not long before he vanishes, turning up in the woods as a corpse riddled with strange, witch-like sigils that have been inscribed all over it -- symbols that you will have to discover and recreate on an autopsy-like diagram in order to reveal the way forward.
Running parallel with Hunter's descent into madness is that of another victim's: Marjorie Holden, a disgraced former folklorist who sees the encroaching darkness as a coordinated conspiracy, one that has an ancient and cataclysmic scope. Whether born from bravery or desperation, she attempts to journey right into the heart of the enemy -- and emerges utterly transformed. In order to follow her pursuit of the truth, you will need to decipher a secret magical alphabet, one that can translate hidden passages that further expose the age-old deceptions.
Through the immersive story and mind-bending puzzles, you will do a deep dive into Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando, including: an encyclopedia-esque collection of the event's icons, locations, and recurring characters; a brief-but-complete rundown of its history, from Hollywood to Las Vegas; an exploration of its ever-evolving components, such as the Tribute Store, its exclusive food and drink offerings, and its growing presence at the on-site hotels; quick overviews of its offspring at Universal parks around the globe; and, even – for the very first time – a unique, custom-made map of Carey, Ohio, the main setting for much of the event's twisted lore.
The result is a kaleidoscopic explosion of form and color and chaos, depicting untold horrors that are racing to the theme park capital of the world.

It is gorgeous. It is so pretty, when I opened it I literally gasped.
This book is a crazy ride that you’ll enjoy the entire time. If you don’t enjoy reading, this doesn’t read like a book. You’re reading it, and there’s screenshots going on, there’s puzzles for you to solve, there’s different ways that text is given to you and not just in a basic way.
I feel like books like this open the door up for more people to find their love of reading, or to regain their love of reading.

I haven’t gotten into many of the puzzles, but I really liked the story twists as to who each writer was and what the books purpose overall was.
I think doing the puzzles would add a really cool interactive element. To me as an Orlando resident it’s awesome thinking all of these things are happening locally and that doing the puzzles would directly help influence the story.
I also enjoyed the whole idea of magic being emotional and how collectively everyone feeling these emotions can greatly influence the world that was fun.
It slowed down a bit at parts, but the pacing switching between history and the actual story bits helped with that and i think the revelations and tying it all together in the end helped.

It was an awesome read I enjoyed it more the second time I read. I picked up a few more points I missed the first time.

REVIEW: “Horrors Untold”
A Love Letter to the Macabre Minds Behind the Madness
As someone who’s spent years behind the curtain of Halloween designing haunted experiences, dreaming up icon characters, and once having the honor of helping shape Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights, I can tell you: Horrors Untold isn’t just a book. It’s a portal.
From the moment I opened it, I felt like I was right back in the story sessions with the HHN Creative Team sitting around a table, trading twisted ideas, weaving mythologies, and building entire universes of fear. Horrors Untold captures that spirit better than anything I’ve seen in print. It’s a first-of-its-kind experience that blends horror fiction, insider HHN lore, and interactive puzzle-solving into one seamless, creepy ride.
Roughly 40% of the book is a dark, original narrative. Another 40%? A detailed and loving guide to the history and evolution of Halloween Horror Nights, packed with enough behind-the-scenes insights to make any fan’s black heart flutter. The final 20%? Interactive puzzles and riddles that echo the kind of immersive storytelling we always strived for designed not just to entertain, but to pull you in.
The genius of Horrors Untold is that it doesn’t require you to be an HHN fan to enjoy it. The eerie atmosphere, mysterious narrative, and immersive gameplay are more than enough to stand on their own. But if you are a fan, especially one who’s ever geeked out over icon lore, scare zone synergy, or shared-universe storytelling, it’s a must-have. A dark mirror reflecting everything you love about this twisted world.
Is it replayable? Not exactly. This isn’t a board game or a casual app. This is a one-way trip. Once you’ve solved the puzzles and uncovered its secrets, the experience is forever changed. But that’s the point. It’s a collector’s piece. A trophy. A cursed relic meant to live proudly on your HHN shelf, right next to your event maps, lanyards, and blood-soaked memories.
And if the puzzles feel too intimidating? Don’t worry. You can still enjoy the book as a complete story. But if you do dare to play, if you give yourself over to the full immersion, you’ll unlock hidden epilogues, deeper meanings, and maybe even a few things best left unsaid.
Horrors Untold gets it. It understands the fun of horror. The magic of myth-building. The thrill of mystery. It reminds me of why we do what we do: to transport, to terrify, and maybe to tell stories that live far beyond the fog.
